We know you can burn a lot of calories while running, but you ask why am I not losing weight? I have three reasons why you might not be losing weight while running.
1. Run often
When I check-in with my clients that have a running plan, I make sure they are running often. You will not lose weight if you run one day a week, or miss a week of workouts, or not eating the proper foods during your running plan. Remember, to lose weight, a big goal is to burn a lot of calories.
2. Doing the same workout
Just like lifting weights, you have to slowly add more challenges to your run. For example, I will have my clients run for distance, hills, intervals, and different places. You have to mix up your runs to prevent your body from adapting to the same running workouts.
3. Eating junk food
You have to fuel your body with proper nutrition after running. A lot of my clients feel tired or they are very hungry and think they can eat anything because they burned a lot of calories. It is very important to eat the proper foods to recover and not to exceed the number of calories needed per day.
It’s easy to get discouraged when you’re not seeing weight loss, but by fixing a few little things in your running plan can make big results. Also, the scale is not always the best way to determine your progress, check to see if your clothes feel looser, or your waist is shrinking, or your muscles might seem more defined.
